Welcome to the Site

Please take this time to realize that this is a personal website and that I don't care if your computer sucks more than mine! Therefore it is also not my concern if you can't view this site properly because you're running a resolution that is less than 1024x768. Do the tech industry a favor, buy a bigger monitor. Also, for some reason (because MICROSOFT STINKS or maybe I'm just not your garden variety W3 coder) Internet Explorer will not show this site properly! So while you're doing favors, do yourself one and get FIREFOX! It really is better.

Hey look, this is a test of my awesome PHPAdmin scripts that I've made to make updating my site easy. Please be impressed.

Hey everyone,

Yeah...I'm still alive, but this site sure hasn't changed much over the past two years. It's a project I want to work on but haven't felt like maintaining. No worries though, I have a new idea that might actually keep my interest and be worth continuously upgrading. ...stay tuned.

Well...finals finally ended last week for my third year at the University. You know what that means? Maybe I'll have some time to finally update this website, do solar car and make some extra cash through my summer job here on campus.

First goals...
- fix the computer page, I broke it 4 months ago.
- actually finish the rest of the site.

I'm not a big fan of bio class, so I'm taking some time to write this article during the lecture. I'm still coming out with some updates just hold your horses. I experimented with a review website, but I wasn't impressed with the boxed code. I'm going to whip up my own mySQL script for that portion of the site. Code for this should be used as the basis for the images and media portions of the website, so that will follow quickly after.

The problem is finding time to do any of this. I've been back from Taiwan for a week, and am still making up missed coursework. I'm pretty busy, so lay off! I expect something to happen by Christmas.

Also, I have pictures from the solar car trip to Taiwan. Visit my fairly simple Taiwan Pics gallery to see them. Also visit the UMNSVP website for blogs and updates from the race (we finished fourth).

I lied again, instead of the solar car thing; I quickly decided to implement something fun. Last night while listening to some music, I noticed that Conan was rocking out the song! To meet this phenomenon, I've created the "Songs Conan Rocks To..." section that can be accessed by clicking "Conan's Favorite Songs" in the funbox. If you've also found a song that Conan is rocking out to, be sure to drop me a line. Maybe your sorry self can get some recognition on my page.

Ok, so I lied! Solar Car wasn't the next thing on my list, instead I went ahead and brought the About Me section online. You should be grateful nonetheless because now you have a little more content to read!

In other news...I made this picture because I thought it was funny. You probably would too if you've seen the Liberty Medical commercial and the fat guy on the horse who can't pronounce "diabetes" properly. In either case, it is now my spray for Counter Strike Source.

Well I finally finished that computer scripting stuff, save for a few small modifications I'll eventually implement (posting pictures, and adding spots to brag about benchmarks and things). It took a lot longer than expected and made me quite angry because the solution to my problem was such a simple one. Note to all budding PHP mySQL coders...when updating a database entry, apparently when you say UPDATE case=(whatever goes here), the server will tell you nothing and make your life miserable. Instead when you say UPDATE `case`=(whatever) the server will be your friend. This is the only instance where this has been a problem, and I still don't know why. If anyone has an answer, send me an e-mail I guess.

Watch your step through the 'My Computer' area of the site. It's a bit hazardous since I'm still updating it to work with my database and scripting. Eventually the proper information will be posted there, but don't be alarmed if you see errors or something. ...Unless of course you're using MSIE in which case, this whole page is an error. In due time I will also install a spell/grammar checker for these scripts so none of you have to strain to understand wtf I'm saying. You should be grateful, after all I would otherwise never do anything for you.

In other news, check out the recently updated UMN Solar Vehicle Project Website. It's under the new management of Jason Allen and it's a pretty decent site. I made the banner (w00t show off). Any of you solar fans out there, stay tuned to that site as we will be taking the car to Taiwan in September for the World Solar Challenge.

Speaking of Solar Car, after finishing the computer section, that will be next on my list. So stay tuned to the News Update area for coverage on that little project. With any luck, everything on this site will be functioning before school starts (effectively reducing my ability to code anything...which is the point of these php scripts and databases).

Hey folks, it took a whole 10 minutes to implement but now I have the ability for my script to recognize carriage returns and replace them with a line break.

That's pretty handy if you ask me.

Updates will be forthcoming to the computer area, plus a few pictures I hope. Until then, you'll have to settle for this article...sucker.

Well as you can see from the time of this post, I've just completed a week long grueling task to make the updating of this site simpler for ME! I've added the ability to post news articles via PHP using a mySQL database. That's getting the most out of my web hosting expenses. Speaking of which, I've decided that my host rocks, and if you're interested you can check out HostingInsiders for yourself.

I think that all this script is missing now is the ability to auto-format (document carriage returns without me coding them). I know it's quite possible to do and I will code it...but not right now...it's late...or early.
